Day 15 – February 2, 2014
Cat is two weeks old today!
- On the way to the Special Care Nursery (which is a nice way to say “NICU”)
- Follow the signs…
- Mommy’s coming!!!
- Everyone must wash their hands outside the Special Care Nursery door before entering
- Babies are sensitive to string scents
- Granmami gets to feed today!
- Granmami, it’s really cute that Cat likes to hold hands while she feeds… but you’re kind of giving the camera the finger…
- Thank you, much better!
- All grandparents must wear masks during the hospital’s flu lockdown
- There’s the milk pumping supply basket (Mommy’s only real job right now)
- Cat’s fancy glass-walled condo; complete with Jumbotron entertainment center showing her stats (top to bottom: heart arte, respiration, blood oxygen level)
- Drawer full of Cat’s drawers… preemie size
- Cat’s first closet
- Ankles back to normal size!
- Cat likes to adopt and old man face when she’s getting burped
- (*burp*) That was a good burp
- Burping makes me sleepy…
- More milk please?
- The nurses sent me home with a huge bag of frozen milk… said they are running out of room in the nursery freezer and that I’ve got a nice stockpile
- Walking back to my courtesy room
- Nurse Sabina wrote a “progress report” for Cat to take home… Cat’s getting straight “A’s”!! She’s doing great so far; all stats look good and she has exceeded her birth weight
Day 14 – February 1, 2014
- When I’m hungry I try to eat my hands!
- This hand looks yummy…
- Finally!! Nom nom nom…
- No! I wanted more milk not this fake-out milk decoy!
- No, no, no, no, no! Tell the Doc that I want more milk than his prescribed amount!
- On the other hand… I’m getting kind of sleepy…
- Maybe I’ll take a nap…
- I love napping with Granmami…
Day 13 – January 31, 2014
Catalina reached two milestones today:-She reached her birth weight and is at 1730 grams (3 lbs 13 oz). All babies lose weight after birth, and it takes 10 to 12 days to gain it back.-She breast-fed today for the first time, and did it like a pro with absolutely no learning curve. You would think she’s been breast feeding for months. They only gave her 10 minutes, and we had to pry her off because she was not wanting to stop. She has been bottle feeding, so it was an unknown whether she would be able to transition to the breast easily or not. She proved she is a versatile baby!
- I don’t like being burped!!!
- Sleepy…
- Cozy
- Striking a ninja pose
- I love the onesie my Auntie Caro gave me!
- Who’s that behind the mask? Granmami has to wear a mask during the hospital’s flu lockdown– not very fashionable!
Day 12 – January 30, 2014
- Laundry day!
- This is exactly how her Daddy sleeps– taking up all the bed real estate!
- Feed me!! Feed me!!! I will whip my head from side to side until you feed me!!!
- Give me your hair…
- If you don’t feed me soon I will eat this hair! Tell the nurse to hurry up with warming up that milk!!
- This is a photo of Daddy Jason when he was just born… look familiar? 😉
- Tummy sleeping is OK in the NICU, but not at home, so get your fill Teeny Catalini!!
- Sleeping like a baby!
- Nom nom nom…
Day 11 – January 29, 2014
Day 10 – January 28, 2014
Day 9 – January 27, 2014
- Auntie Carolina crocheted this hat!
- Visit from Uncle Richard and Aunt Mary!
